Mastery Guide

Mastery is the per-ability EXP track. Every zombie kill funnels EXP into the ability you currently have slotted, climbing through four milestones up to Lv100 — the only way to unlock that ability's V-skill (its ultimate). This page covers per-kill yields by difficulty, the milestone breakpoints, and which Gravewalker map gives you the fastest path to Lv100. Updated .

Why Mastery Matters

  • Lv75: +35% DMG — the highest single-stat power spike in the game outside of rebirth.
  • Lv100: unlocks the V-skill (ultimate ability). This is permanent and unique per ability.
  • Per-ability: mastery tracks each ability independently. Swapping slots does not transfer EXP.
  • Total EXP to Lv100: 257,400 — calculated from the formula (150 + 5050) / 2 × 99.

Mastery Milestones

Level Bonus Why it matters
Lv25 +2 Walkspeed Minor mobility for early-game farming.
Lv50 +2 DMG Flat damage — small but stacks with multipliers.
Lv75 +35% DMG Major DPS spike — the most efficient mastery breakpoint.
Lv100 Unlock V-skill The ability's ultimate becomes usable. Lv100 is the only way to unlock it.

EXP per Zombie Kill (by difficulty)

Difficulty EXP / kill Notes
Normal 5 Standard zombie waves.
Hard 7.5 +50% over Normal.
Nightmare 10 +100% over Normal.
Gravewalker 20 +300% — the recommended farming difficulty.

EXP applies only to the ability you currently have equipped in the slot that landed the killing blow. Multi-slot rotation does not split EXP — the last-hit slot gets full credit.

Farming Routes — Gravewalker EXP per Run

Gravewalker Impel Down 6,500 ~7-10 min/run · Open layout, less density than Shibuya.

Time to Lv100 — The Math

Total EXP needed: 257,400. Running pure Gravewalker Shibuya at 8,900 EXP per run takes ~29 runs. Impel Down at 6,500 EXP per run takes ~40 runs.

  • Shibuya path: 29 runs × 6 min = ~174 min · 29 runs × 5 min (optimal) = ~145 min
  • Impel Down path: 40 runs × 7 min = ~280 min
  • Best case (Shibuya optimal): ~87 min if you average 3 min per run with stacked DMG buffs.

Recommendation: run Gravewalker Shibuya. The 8,900 vs 6,500 EXP-per-run gap (37% better) dominates the per-run time differential. Pair with a high-DPS ability (Spin, Head of Hei, Akaza, Saiyan) and Reaper / Flash trait — the ability you are mastering doesn't have to be the one carrying DPS, as long as it lands the kill shot.

Mastery Stacks with Upgrade and Rebirth

The +35% DMG from Lv75 stacks multiplicatively with rebirth and upgrade bonuses. For the same Spin Lv7 / R5 / Flash example from the Upgrade page:

  • Base g-skill: 1881
  • × R5: ×3.50
  • × Flash: ×1.20
  • × Upgrade Lv7: ×1.35
  • × Mastery Lv75: ×1.35
  • = ~14,397 per g-skill hit (vs 10,664 without mastery).

Mastery is the highest-ROI investment after Rebirth — no coin cost, just zombie kills. If you only have time for one Gravewalker grind today, push your main DPS ability to Lv75 first.
