Basic Shield

Basic Shield is the entry-level D-tier defensive gadget — provides a small damage block window. FRVR marks it as D-tier because Energy Shield (A) and Infinity (A) outperform Basic Shield on every metric.

When to swap

Replace Basic Shield with Energy Shield as soon as available; replace Energy Shield with Infinity for the longest defensive window.

Best modes

The official tier list splits gadgets across three mode-specific rankings (Shiroo, 2026-05-09): Beginner gadget tier list (survivability over damage), Raid gadget ranking, and Survival / Infinity gadget ranking. Basic Shield fits the Beginner bucket — it gives new players a defensive option before they unlock Energy Shield or Infinity. For Raid and Survival+Infinity loadouts, Foong’s Meta Build thread names Rage and Black Hole / Infinity as the picks — Basic Shield does not appear in any mode loadout.

Tier positioning

Basic Shield sits at D tier, paired with Medkit at the bottom of the ranking — insufficient endgame protection.

Synergies & comparison

Basic Shield is the stepping stone until a real defensive gadget drops. Compared to Energy Shield (A-tier) and Infinity (A-tier, 15-second impenetrable bubble), Basic Shield’s block window is short enough that endgame Survival wave damage and Raid telegraphed mega-attacks both punch through. Pair early game with any survival-leaning ability like Saiyan (V-skill auto-revive) and a defensive pet like Shield Titan (top Lifesteal) to compensate. Once Black Hole or Energy Shield is in inventory, retire Basic Shield.
