Rarely — Black Hole is strictly better for AoE setup. Gravity Field is the bridge gadget for players who haven’t unlocked Black Hole yet. Roll past Gravity Field once Black Hole is in inventory.

Best modes

The official tier list splits gadgets into three rankings (Beginner / Raid / Survival+Infinity). Gravity Field’s slow-zone mechanic is a downgraded Black Hole, the Survival + Infinite gadget pick. Foong’s Meta Build lists Black Hole / Infinity as the canonical Survival and Infinite cosmetics, so Gravity Field is the bridge pick until Black Hole unlocks.

Gravity Field sits at B tier. Above it are the A-tier defensive picks Energy Shield and Infinity and the offensive Conqueror’s Haki; below it the C-tier Beacon Taunt and the D-tier survival gadgets.

Synergies & comparison

Gravity Field’s role is to pre-stack zombies for AoE abilities — exactly Black Hole’s job, but with a weaker pull. In Rolasyum’s Flash matrix the canonical Survival / Infinite AoE damage dealers are Pride, Coyote, Shadow Monarch, and Spin — pair Gravity Field with any of these and the Flash trait. Pet pairing: Kurama (A-tier, +15% DMG flat — the best raw DMG multiplier, a glass-cannon pick) maximizes the AoE damage on the slowed cluster. Replace Gravity Field with Black Hole on drop.
