Impel Down is the Intermediate-to-Advanced difficulty map, themed after the underwater prison from One Piece. Its lava traversal sections demand more careful movement than Shibuya’s open layout.

Aesthetic & atmosphere
Per docs/06-maps.md §2.2.2, Impel Down is built on the One Piece underwater prison concept: levels are layered with lava floors and the layout extends into underground sections with complex terrain. According to the verified source row in the same table, the visual language leans into “underground sections, lava traversal, complex terrain” (BloxInsider) — the level reads less like a flat dungeon and more like a stacked prison block where each floor changes the floor-plan and forces players to read both the lava hazards and the room transitions at the same time.
Mode mechanics
Per docs/06-maps.md §1.2.1 and §1.2.2, Impel Down is one of the two confirmed Survival and Infinite mode maps (Shibuya being the other). The Survival rotation runs through 4 difficulty tiers — Normal, Hard, Nightmare, and Graveyard (Discord Foong calls the highest difficulty “Gravewalker”, per docs/06-maps.md §3) — across a 6-section structure with a 30-second pre-boss prep window. According to docs/06-maps.md §2.2.2, Impel Down is the recommended map for Nightmare difficulty specifically, in addition to Raid Mode crossover. Infinite Mode on Impel Down uses the same endless-wave structure with a boss every 5 waves, per docs/06-maps.md §1.2.2.
Why farm here
Per docs/06-maps.md §1.1, Impel Down is the only map that drops Metal, Crystal, Diamonds, and Dungeon Keys — Shibuya cannot drop these materials regardless of difficulty (the same Tier 1 Discord AE source confirms material drops are map-locked). According to docs/03-gameplay.md §1.2.4, Impel Down averages 6,500 mastery per Gravewalker run, compared to Shibuya’s 8,900 — meaning Impel Down is the slower of the two maps for raw mastery efficiency, but the only viable map for players who need Impel-Down-exclusive crafting materials. Per docs/06-maps.md §2.2.2, the recommended pairing is Nightmare difficulty for the Tier 1 material drops plus the Fleet Admiral title farm.
Synergies & comparison
Per docs/06-maps.md §2.4 (map-mode pairing matrix), Impel Down and Shibuya are the only two Survival/Infinite maps — every cosmetic-material farm decision in the game reduces to a choice between these two. According to docs/06-maps.md §1.1, Hei Outfit (which requires Shibuya’s Fingers + Cursed Orbs) is locked to Shibuya, while Impel Down’s Metal / Crystal / Diamonds support a different cosmetic branch entirely. For ability pairings, the same wave-clear logic that FFBooyah recommends for Shibuya applies on Impel Down with more cautious movement around lava — abilities like Shadow Monarch and Saiyan remain the top wave-clear options per docs/06-maps.md §2.2.1.
