Spin is the newest S-tier ability, added in the SBR+AOT update (2026-05-09) alongside the Trost map. Spin is a raid-exclusive drop at 0.5% from the new SBR raid, with the in-game title Steel Ball Run unlocked at the same drop rate.

Canonical IP attribution

Spin is internally referred to as Gyro Zeppeli — the deuteragonist of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run (Part 7). This is confirmed by:

• The official ❔ faq Discord channel — Best Traits on Abilities thread by Rolasyum (2026-05-10) explicitly lists “Spin / Gyro” under both the Raids (Reaper) and Survival/Infinite (Flash) categories — making Spin one of only two abilities that top both meta builds
• The signature Spin / Tusk ACT skill names are direct Steel Ball Run references
• The in-game title Steel Ball Run (+40% DMG / +60 HP / +3 WS / +15% Coins / +15% EXP / +10% CD / +20% Drops) is the SBR raid drop

Base damage (Foong, 2026-05-12)

Spin’s g (19×99 = 1881) is the highest single-button damage in the entire game — surpassing Head of Hei (1600), Akaza (1170), Saiyan (1170), Pride (910), and Atomic (704). The catch: 99 ticks at 19 damage requires the full uptime window with no interruption, so trait/pet CDR is critical.

Acquisition

Spin is NOT in the regular gacha pool. The only way to obtain it is via the new SBR raid at the 0.5% drop rate. The matching title Steel Ball Run drops at the same 0.5% rate — both together are the rarest pull pair in the game.

Meta positioning

Spin is the single biggest Tier 1 finding of the post-SBR+AOT update meta. The cross-verification table in docs/04-tier-list.md §3 spells it out: Foong’s Meta Build (docs/04-tier-list.md §1.1) ranks Spin > everything else in all three modes — Raid (§1.1.1: Spin / Naoya / Akaza / Coyote), Survival (§1.1.2: Spin > Cid / Saiyan / Coyote), and Infinite (§1.1.3: Spin > Sasuke / Pride / Saiyan). No other ability appears as the #1 slot in all three Foong tables. Rolasyum’s trait-pairing matrix (docs/04-tier-list.md §1.2) confirms this by listing “Spin / Gyro” under both the Raids (Reaper) and Survival/Infinite (Flash) categories — Spin is one of only two abilities that top both Tier 1 trait matrices.

Tier 2 aggregators (FRVR / PGG / Beebom / Roonby) completely omit Spin from their tier lists as of 2026-05-13 — per docs/04-tier-list.md §3, “Tier 2 未提 Spin (Mythic 新加?)”. The site labels Spin as S (Tier 1 add) in docs/04-tier-list.md §2.3.1, with the note “全表最高 g = 1881”. Per the update-cycle note (docs/04-tier-list.md §5), new abilities tend to launch S-tier — Spin is the strongest current example, alongside Cid Kagenou and Naoya.

Trait synergies

Tier 1 documents Spin under two trait matrices but does not publish a row in Lunatic’s weapon-upgrade table (docs/04-tier-list.md §1.3, which covers 12 abilities — Spin is not listed there since it is post-Lunatic’s 2026-05-05 dump). The Foong / Rolasyum dual recommendation is:

• Raid → Reaper trait per Rolasyum (docs/04-tier-list.md §1.2.1) — Spin / Gyro paired with Reaper for the Raid burst lane.
• Survival / Infinite → Flash trait per Rolasyum (docs/04-tier-list.md §1.2.2) — Spin / Gyro paired with Flash for sustained wave clear.

The mechanical reason both traits work: Spin’s g-slot is 19 damage × 99 ticks (docs/04-tier-list.md §1.1 / docs/05-units-heroes.md §1.1). Every +1 from trait DMG scaling multiplies across 99 ticks, so Reaper’s +35% DMG and Flash’s +20% DMG both translate to massive g-slot output. Flash adds -20% CD + 25% ATK SPD, which lets Spin rotate the g-cast more often — that compounds into the Survival / Infinite wave-clear edge.

Synergies & comparison

• Versus Head of Hei: Head of Hei (g = 1600) is the closest g-slot competitor per docs/05-units-heroes.md §1.1 — but Spin (1881) still wins by 281, and Head of Hei is a Quest reward (gated) while Spin is the 0.5% SBR raid drop.
• Versus Saiyan / Destructive Fists: both at g = 1170 — 711 below Spin. Saiyan has the +15% DMG / +SPD passive (docs/05-units-heroes.md §1.3), Destructive Fists shares the Raid Reaper slot with Akaza — both are S-tier alternates while you farm Spin.
